Thotapalli Project, Jute, Sugar Mills, A Picture Of Chandrababu’s Neglect
Bobbili: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has neglected lifeline of the district like Thotapalli project and has rendered thousands unemployed by pushing jute mills to closure, said Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
After Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy completed 90% of the project work, Chandrababu Naidu could not complete the remaining 10%, YS Jagan reminded the huge audience at the meeting. By stalling the project only 80 thousand acres is being irrigated of 1.35 lakhs to be irrigated.
YS Jagan said that Chandrababu reminds us of the demon Mahishasura. Addressing a mammoth public meeting here, he said that Chandrababu is driving the state into darkness. He brings with him came drought and deluge. The YSRCP chief also referred to the local MLA, who is cheating the people in diverse ways.
At the time of the 2014 elections, the women's self help groups had loans amounting to Rs 14,206 crores which were to be waived. Banks have now been harassing women from these SHGs, he pointed out.
Self help groups were to be given Rs 10 thousand under “Pasupu- Kumkuma” scheme of which Rs 8 thousand has been given in 3 installments. The last installment was to be given on the occasion of Dussehra. In the same announcement subsidy on interest was also mentioned which remains unfulfilled.
YS Jagan said that farmer loans at the time of elections were Rs 87,612 now they stand at staggering Rs.1,26,000 crores with interest. The loan waiver given by the government has not even covered one fourth of the interest amount, he added.
The unemployment rate is growing at an alarming rate. Chandrababu announced an unemployment allowance of Rs 2000 to unemployed youth. But it is not being paid and the irony is that existing employees are also being sacked, the YSRCP chief pointed out. Employees of Ayush have been fired, Saakshar Bharat employees have not been paid wages since past 14 months, Municipal employees since two months. Staff in Arogya Sri and 104 services are also not being paid.
In spite of all this, Chandrababu claims of 20 lakh crores of investment and 40 lakhs of jobs by holding an investors' meeting in Vishakhapatnam. YS Jagan criticised the TDP government saying that the mid-day meal scheme is being sidelined by the government.
The YSRCP chief lauded the heritage of Bobbili. Bobbili, a place with a great history, gave us a warrior like Tandra Paparayudu who severed the head of a king because he joined hands with enemy forces, he said. But here the MLA has defected in the name of development. He also became minister of mining and is looting the state resources in the name of manganese mining. Tribal lands worth crores are also being grabbed in the name of mining.
YS Jagan pointed out that Vegavathi, Swarnamukhi, Champavathi, Gosthani, Nagavali rivers are being indiscriminately excavated and lakes are being occupied.
The YSRCP chief added that Bobbili is also known for jute mills. SriLakshmi Sreenivasa which employs 2,300 people, today is closed for over three years. YS Jagan pointed out that after Chandrababu came to power electricity prices have gone up from Rs 3.15 to Rs 5.50 per unit.
The YSRCP chief said that Chandrababu Naidu's four-year rule is filled with lies and injustice. Under Rajanna Rajyam, all segments of society will be covered by comprehensive welfare governance, he said.
