YS Jagan Promises To Form Separate Anakapalli District

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as part of his mass outreach program, Praja Sankalpa Yatra, addressed a public meeting in Anakapalli constituency in Visakhapatnam district today. YS Jagan thanked the masses for their support during his padayatra.

The YSRCP Chief sent out his condolences to the bereaved family of Nandamuri Harikrishna, who died a car accident today morning.

Launching a scathing attack at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring the sugarcane farmers and the co-operative sugar factories in the district. After Chandrababu Naidu came to power, a majority of the co-operative sugar factories in the district ran into losses and got closed, whereas during late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy's regime, the factories were into profits, he said.

The leader observed that the CM tried to assign the closed factories to his close aide MVVS Murthy, while the lives of lakhs of workers who were dependent on the factories were in jeopardy.

YS Jagan explained that the Anakapalli jaggery market was in steep losses, with the State government's support price of just Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per ton, while the Chandrababu-owned Heritage Foods was selling jaggery at the rate of Rs 84 per kg. He said that the Tandava sugar factory was running at a loss of Rs 40 crores and the factories in Etikoppaka and Cholavaram were running in hundreds of crores of losses.

"In 2004, when the Thummapalem sugar factory was running at a loss of Rs 20 crore, late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) came to the factory's rescue by providing financial support. In 2003, when Chandrababu was in power, the Cholavaram sugar factory went into Rs 45 crore losses, but Dr YSR saved the factory from closing down, and brought it into a profit of Rs 45 crore. Workers in the factories were given bonuses and incentives during Rajanna Rajyam," he said.

The Leader of Opposition criticized the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government for cheating the farmers by not providing MSPs, and cheating the unemployed by depriving them of jobs. He also said that co-operative dairy industry was in losses because of Chandrababu's Heritage dairy. "While the government purchases milk from the farmers at a price of Rs 26 per litre, Chandrababu's Heritage sells milk at double the price," he asserted.

Adding that the TDP government destroyed the Arogyasri scheme, he noted that the 250-bed Anakapalli hospital had only 15 doctors serving in place of 46 doctors, and only one driver working for 3 different ambulances.

YS Jagan said that during Dr YSR's regime, 11,000 houses were built in the constituency. On the other side, Chandrababu is planning to sell flats built in the government land, at the rate of 2,000 per feet to the poor, while the builder rate is only 1,000 per feet, he added.

"Jagan Ane Nenu... promise to waive off the house loan, if YSRCP comes to power", he said to thunderous applause. "What benefits did Anakapalli get after it was merged into the Greater Visakha region?" he questioned. Adding that the house taxes and electricity charges were drastically increased after the merger, YS Jagan promised to create a separate Anakapalli district that had Anakapalli as the district headquarters. He said that the locals would not need to visit the King George Hospital in Vizag for medical treatment, after formation of the new district.

Back in 2014, Chandrababu promised to waive off farm loans, but instead has burdened the state government with a loan of Rs 87,600 crores, he said. Bank loan notices continue to harass farmers and the women's co-operative societies, he added.

The people's leader said that waiving off the loans of farmers and women's associations was the first priority of YSRCP. TDP promised to provide jobs for every household and an unemployment insurance of Rs 2,000, he remembered.

With elections in 6 months, Chandrababu, who has failed in fulfilling his election promise on the liquor ban, is resorting to make false promises in the name of Dharma Porata Deeksha, he said.

Chandrababu had spent lakhs of rupees of public funds for the dental treatment of minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu in Singapore, while the same treatment could have been carried out at the cost of Rs 10,000, he observed. The Arogyasri scheme will be restored to its former glory once again, he assured the gathering. Chandrababu was caught red-handed in notes for vote case, he added.

YS Jagan observed that leaders from the TDP exploited all resources like sand, cement, alcohol, electricity and coal, across the State.

After coming to power, the YSRCP will revive the fee reimbursement scheme and will extend financial support to the women's organizations and self help groups, he promised.
