Parents of Poornima Sai were utterly disappointed as the girl who was tracked down in Mumbai on Monday refused to meet them saying Sai Baba told her to stay away from them for their own good.

Nagaraju and Vijayakumari, residents of Nizampet, went to Mumbai along with a police official to bring their daughter home. Poornima, who left home on June 7 on the pretext of going to school, first went to Shirdi and stayed there for 15 days. Later she went to Mumbai and took shelter at a juvenile home run by an NGO saying she was an orphan and came from an orphanage at Tukaram Gate in Hyderabad. There she shared some facts about her with another Telugu girl who alerted the management about her fake identity. The management informed the Bhoiwada police who in turn contacted Tukaram Gate police and sent them her picture.

When Poornima's parents held a press conference along with Baalala Hakkula Committee president Achyuta Rao as her whereabouts were not found out even after a month, the Tukaram Gate police sent the girl's picture that they received from Mumbai to Bachupally police who confirmed it was the same girl. The parents were overwhelmingly happy that finally their daughter was found and traveled to Mumbai to get her back.

The scene at the juvenile home was totally different from what they expected; Poornima refused to come out to meet her parents. Disheartened by her response, the parents approached the police who tried to convince the girl to go with her parents, but she was hellbent on her decision to stay away from them saying she was told by Sai Baba to do so for their own good. "In my dream, I was told by Sai Baba to stay away from my parents for a year; else they will face problems," the girl reportedly told the police.

Even psychologists tried to counsel her but she wouldn't listen. As all their efforts failed, heavy-hearted Nagaraju and Vijayakumari came back home empty handed.

However, the Cyberabad police sent a team of women police officials to Mumbai to bring her back to produce her in a court as a case of kidnap was registered. She will be produced in a juvenile court in Miyapur after bringing her back by Wednesday morning.

If she still doesn't want to meet parents, she will be sent to a children's rescue home.

Why Anika Sri?

Poornima Sai registered her name as Anika Sri at the juvenile home where she took shelter in Mumbai. Anika Sri is the name of a character in a TV serial - Ishqbaaz - which is played by Surabhi Chandana. An addict of TV serials, Poornima picked the name of her favorite TV serial character as she also maintained friendship with Surabhi Chandana on Instagram for a long time. She reportedly told the police that she wanted to make a career in acting in Bollywood or Hindi serials.
