Harish Rao Slams Jaipal Reddy
Caretaker Irrigation Minister in the Telangana state government said that he found senior Congress leader and former Union minister Jaipal Reddy's criticism of the TRS establishment, comical and far from real. The senior TRS leader wondered how Jaipal Reddy failed to notice the good work done by the state government in the irrigation sector. It was comical that a senior leader like Jaipal Reddy accused the TRS of not providing any drinking water in the state and claiming that not an acre had been irrigated in Telangana.
Harish Rao said that the Congress had done precious little for Telangana's irrigation needs in 60 years. He asked the Congress leader to do some fact-checking in his own constituency of Kalwakurthy to which it was thr TRS, and not the Congress, which provided drinking water. Similarly, he can verify with people elsewhere in Mahboobnagar district to which he belongs, such as Wanaparthy, Jadcherla, and Nagarkurnool.
Harish Rao said that 15,000 villages had been provided drinking water from Godavari, Krishna and Manjeera during the four and a half years of TRS rule. The government also provided 12 lakh acres with water for irrigation, he asserted. In all 25 lakh acres had been irrigated under the TRS rule, Harish Rao said. The efficiency of the KCR government in the field of irrigation is proof of TRS' integrity, Harish Rao said.
Harish Rao said that a senior leader like Jaipal Reddy ought to ascertain facts before making such statements. He added that people will teach the Congress a lesson in the upcoming elections. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said that it is full of chief ministerial aspirants implying that this could be the trigger for such remarks.
