Sonia Gandhi, Rahul To Tour Telangana Soon: Congress
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Uttam Kumar Reddy said that a final decision on the Chief Ministerial candidate would be taken by Congress President Rahul Gandhi after the election results. Speaking to media on Sunday here, he said that there was no need for discussion over the CM candidate at that point of time.
Uttam predicted that the Congress would win 75 Assembly seats in the upcoming elections. Adding that there were many senior leaders in the Congress, he mentioned that there was a chance of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi visiting Telangana at the end of the month. "Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi might hold public meetings in the State at the end of the month," he said.
Asked about the allocation of tickets among the parties in the grand alliance, he clarified that the Congress would not sacrifice on the seats which we can win. The alliance was formed on the agreement that the parties would contest only in winnable seats.
Uttam said that the process of selection of candidates for contesting the Assembly polls was already underway. The Congress, TDP, CPI and the TJS united to form a grand alliance with a common objective to oust the TRS from power.
