KCR Stresses On Telangana Pride In Mammoth TRS Pragathi Nivedana Sabha

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao stressed upon the pride and self-esteem of Telangana. He said that the TRS believes that the people of the state will not be enslaved by rulers in Delhi, unlike other parties. He asked the people of the state to bless him another time so that many of his promises and commitments could be fulfilled. Thus he sounded the clarion call for Assembly elections, without stating it directly.

KCR also hinted that some important decisions would be announced in the next few days and that his cabinet colleagues had entrusted him with the responsibility of taking whatever decision he deemed fit in the interest and welfare of Telangana.

The Chief Minister said that speculation had been rife about him making an announcement on the dissolution of the assembly and early elections. It would be unethical on his part to announce welfare schemes as chief minister, he said and further added that, the manifesto would be drawn up under a committee headed by secretary general of the party, Keshav Rao.

KCR recalled how the chief minister of the day, in the year 2000 (Chandrababu Naidu) raised the power tariff indiscriminately putting Telangana farmers to great hardship.

He recalled that as a son of Telangana, he had written an open letter to the CM then. “I said that the enhanced power tariff was like a noose around Telangana farmers’ necks.” KCR recollected that his appeals fell on deaf ears and that he had told his colleagues that they would have to launch a movement for a separate state.

He recollected that rulers of Delhi thought at that time that they could be repressed by lathi charges and false cases. They held power at the state and Centre then and had become arrogant, he said.

KCR pointed out that his letter sowed the seeds of a separate state. For 8 to 9 months there was a lot of brainstorming and several rounds of discussions with thousands of people. Finally, it was decided that we have to fight for a separate Telangana, he said. “With a handful of people with me at that time and faith in God, the belief that because justice was on our side, I knew victory would be ours. People of Telangana were humiliated and were told that the state would not materialise. With determination we strode forward and the entire state came together and Telangana was formed,” he recalled.

He added, “In 2001 April, I took a vow that there would be no going back till Telangana was formed.”

KCR added that the TRS decided to go it alone. Several problems beset the fledgling state. It was under difficult circumstances that Telangana began its journey, but once in power work was prioritised, he observed.

Mission Kakatiya was first conceived more than 10 years ago in Delhi, KCR revealed. Today, Telangana is the only state which gives free power supply to farmers he said and added that in the years to come the state will have power surplus.

The Telangana chief minister said that the state suffered greatly in united Andhra Pradesh. Farmers suicides were on the rise. “It pained me greatly at that time,” he said.

Telangana chief minister rolled out a long list of welfare schemes under the TRS government. He said that TRS gives equal importance to cattle rearing and sheep rearing as it does to information technology.

Kalyana Lakshmi was born out of the suffering of people who find it difficult to get their daughters married. Child marriages have come down, as a result of this.

Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Beema, loan waivers, free power supply to farmers, Gurukuls for children of all communities and several other welfare schemes are taking this state forward on the path of progress, KCR asserted. The dream of KG to PG in education will be realised soon. Self-Governance in tribal hamlets will be a reality in the near future.

The Telangana Chief Minister said that one crore acres are to be irrigated be it Kaleshwaram or other irritation projects across the state. A water connection for every home is almost a reality with only 1300 villages left. By November this scheme will be completed, he said and added that Mission Bhagiratha had been praised by NITI Ayog and 11 other states.

KCR asserted that Telangana is the number one state in the country currently growing at the rate of 17.18%.

Minorities had been allocated a budget of 400 crores all over the country while in the state of Telangana the budget assigned for minorities in the state of Telangana was 2000 crores he said.
