Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader DK Aruna today admitted that she had differences with AICC Official Spokesperson Jaipal Reddy in the past. Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here today, she said that the differences arose due to the age difference between the two leaders. The former minister also clarified that she had no differences with Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy.

DK Aruna said that the party will benefit from offering the Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha seat to a powerful leader from the Backward Classes rather than to Jaipal Reddy. Asked if she was a contender for the PCC Chief post, the Congress leader maintained that she was always a top contender for the post. "I am not interested in working at the national level with the AICC, but I would like to serve the party in the State," she added.

The Congress leader said that there was a need for speeding up the party activities in Mahbubnagar district, and that the Congress should not miss out on the strong opposition against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and must take full advantage of the situation. She clarified that she never sought party ticket for her daughter.

"After Congress President Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to the State, the party cadre is working at full throttle. Senior leaders from other parties are getting ready to join the Congress. The party leadership will decide on the Chief Ministerial candidate," she said.
