Be Careful: Chandrababu Warns Nayee Brahmins
Amaravati: Members of the Nayee Brahmin community faced Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's wrath when they pleaded with him to recognise them as contract employees and ensure minimum wages to them, here today.
"We will not give; there is absolutely no question of giving minimum wages....I'm telling you over and over again...I'll clip your wings." (Chandrababu used tail in place of wings, as is the popular expression in colloquial Telugu).

Wagging his finger at the protesting group of Nayee Brahmins from temples, Chandrababu warned, "Be careful; don't you wag your tail again...you have the cheek to come to the Secretariat and behave as you please! Next time you do this, you will not be allowed into temples...no arguments...we will pay minimum wages; which village are you from? And you? I was the chief minister for nine years, do you know that?" Chandrababu reprimanded the agitating Nayee Brahmins continued in this vein, saying all this and more.

It is widely known that for some time now, Nayee Brahmins working in temples had been seeking recognition as contract employees and assurance of minimum wages. For the past four days, the protest of members of the Nayee Brahmin community has taken a serious turn with their refusal to tonsure the hair offered by pilgrims in temples across the state. The talks between deputy chief minister KE Krishnamurthy and the association representatives held on Monday are reported to have ended in a stalemate.
