Politicos Camaraderie at ‘Alai Balai’
Hyderabad: Annual fete 'Alai Balai' was organized at Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad on Wednesday showcasing the bonhomie of leaders across the political spectrum. 'Alai Balai' means an exchange of greetings during festival.
The fete was hosted by Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya who has been conducting 'Alai Balai' every year during Dasara since 2005.
The mega event was attended by Governor ESL Narasimhan, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology YS Chowdary, Telangana ministers Naini Narasimha Reddy, Etela Rajender, Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao, TTDP leaders L Ramana, R Krishnaiah, Justice B Subhashan Reddy, filmmaker R Narayana Murthy.
“Alai Balai is our collective responsibility to carry forward the strengths of our traditions and is an effort towards instilling values among the youth,” said Dattatreya.
Governor E S L Narasimhan praised Dattatreya for taking imitative in conducting the programe and hoped that the politicians express same solidarity in their daily life as shown at 'Alai Balai'.
Apart from bonhomie, the event was a reflection of Telangana culture and food. Over 39 varieties of traditional food were dished out like Ambali, Chalividi Mudda, and Makka Garelu.
Folk performances like Chindu Yakshaganam, Dhimsa, Perini Siva tandavam, Oggu katha enthralled the audience apart from folk songs.
