Political Satirist Arrested By AP Police In Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Political satirist on social media Inturi Ravikiran was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in Hyderabad in the wee hours on Friday.
About a dozen police personnel swooped on Ravikiran's house at Shamshabad at around 3.30am and picked him in their car without informing the family. The cops forced the house owner to call him out and once the door was opened, they caught hold of Ravikiran and bundled him into their car waiting downstairs, said his wife Sujana.
When Sujana insisted why he was being nabbed, they said that he was posting insulting satires on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and the TDP. They gave no other clue about where he was being taken to.
The AP police did not take permission from the Telangana police for their operation in Hyderabad. The family of Ravikiran is shocked and his followers on Facebook condemned the arrest. "This is an attack on democracy by Chandrababu government," said Usman Basha Shaik.
