Political Jallikattu Gets Fiercer In Tamil Nadu
Chennai: Political scenario in Chennai is getting hotter and hotter by the moment even as the caretaker Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam is leaving no stone unturned to secure his post on Thursday. He is contemplating converting Poes Garden, where Jayalalithaa resided for decades, into Amma's memorial so that his opponent Sasikala can be evacuated from the place. OPS is also taking steps to shift officials including Chennai Police Commissioner.
Meanwhile, Sasikala group which camped in Poes Garden is also making all moves possible to lay claim for the CM post. Though the group is claiming to enjoy the support of 131 MLAs of the party, only around 45 MLAs are camping at a resort on the outskirts of the city since last night. Among the 43 missing MLAs, 20 belong to Thevar community to which noth Panneerselvam and Sasikala belong, too.
There are 38 MLAs from Thevar community in the Assembly and 18 of them are now in Sasikala's camp and the remaining 20 are believed to be leaning towards OPS.
Both the groups are trying to gatecrash the Raj Bhavan when the Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao arrives in Chennai this afternoon.
Meanwhile, social media is going all out to support Panneerselvam and an enthusiast released the list of phone numbers of all AIADMK MLAs requesting people to call them and ask them to extend support to OPS. Senior actor Kamal Haasan also extended his support to Panneerselvam saying there is no need to change CM.
