Police Nab Fraudster Groom From Marriage Hall

Prakasam: A groom-to-be was arrested from the marriage hall and his wedding was cancelled after the bride's family came to know that he was a fraudster.

The incident took place on Friday in Prakasam district. The bride's parents came to know that the groom does not have any job but collects Rs 10-15 lakh from youth on the promise of jobs through a consultancy. The marriage was stopped an hour before the muhurat.

According to the police, the accused Pulicherla Kalyan Reddy, a resident of Bhagya Nagar in the town defrauded the bride's family making them believe that he works in Malaysia. Trusting him, the parents fixed their daughter's marriage with the man and the marriage was scheduled for June 16 at 11.00 am.

Incidentally, the victims who were defrauded by Kalyan belonged to the same village as the bride. They lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday. The police on inquiry came to know that the accused is marrying a girl by defrauding her family. The police soon alerted parents of the bride-to-be. Police arrested Kalyan and sent him to remand.
