Police Identify Imposter Who drove Away With Audi Q3
Hyderabad: The police who are investigating the test drive-robbery case involving an unidentified youth who introduced himself as Dr. Gautham Reddy to a pre-owned car showroom in Banjara Hills and drove away with an Audi Q3 car, have revealed the scamster's identity.
Dr. Gautham Reddy's real name is Venkatramana and he hails from Karapa in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Going by another alias Srinivas Reddy, the miscreant has several cases registered against him in various places, including one in Banjara Hills police station where a complaint had been registered against him in 2014 after he expressed interest in purchasing a Santro car from one Gopal Reddy of RK Puram and then fled away with the vehicle from Jubilee Hills Road No.23.
The police reveal the modus operandus of the scamster seemed to be the same- he would create a false identity and approach unsuspecting sellers and express interest in purchasing their cars. He would then ask for a test drive and subsequently speed away with the car.
After the latest heist at the pr-owned car dealership in Banjara Hills where he posed as Dr. Gautham Reddy from Apollo Hospitals and stole an Audi Q3 bearing registration number AP28 DR 0005, the police circulated pictures from CCTV grabs and were able to identify the miscreant as none other than Venkatramana from East Godavari. Venkatramana reportedly has around 15 cases lodged against him.
In one instance Venkatramana had even manage to escape from the clutches of the police after Guntur police had arrested him in Khammam and were bringing him back to Guntur.
The police have presently formed special teams to nab Venkatramana.
