Police harass farmers over land pooling

Police harass farmers over land pooling - Sakshi Post

The Guntur police are resorting to harassment of farmers who did not surrender their lands for the land pooling for the new capital city region of Andhra Pradesh.

A case in point is that of farmer Gadde Chandrasekhar of Malkapuram in Tulluru mandal. His sugarcane crop in five acres of land was destroyed by miscreants who set the entire crop on fire. The farmer lodged a complaint with the local police. Also, YSR Congress leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy personally consoled the farmer during his visit to Malkapuram.

However, as soon as YS Jagan left the village the harassment by the police began. They repeatedly called Chandrasekhar to the police station to enquire into the fire incident.

Chandrasekhar claimed that the police demanded that he should inform them every 30 minutes about his whereabouts and his activities.

Though the farmer complied initially he is now consulting lawyers about his next course of action.
