Police forcibly stop Vijayamma's hunger strike

Police forcibly stop Vijayamma's hunger strike - Sakshi Post

In a midnight crackdown, Guntur police forcibly shifted fasting YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma to a government hospital after her health condition deteriorated.

Vijayamma was fasting to press the Centre to maintain status quo if it cannot do equal justice to all regions. Her fast entered sixth day on Saturday.

Police obstructed her fast at midnight and forcibly shifted her to the hospital. There was mild tension as the YSRCP leaders resisted the police bid to forcibly take away their party's honorary president.

YSRCP party leaders fumed at the police for shifting Vijayamma in  a police van.

The condition of Vijayamma is said to be critical as she hasn't eaten anything for the past five days. Doctors advised immediate medical care for Vijayamma. But Vijayamma was bent upon continuing her fast.

She has made it clear that she was willing to sacrifice her life, but will not call off her hunger strike.

Police have tightened security around the hospital and not allowing anybody inside, except other patients.

The YSR Congress have called for a shutdown in Guntur town against the police action. Shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed.
