Police denial to Jagan meeting irks YSRCP
The Hyderabad police on Saturday denied the permission for YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's proposed 'Samaikya Sankharavam' meeting in Hyderabad.
Jagan proposed to hold a massive public meeting in Hyderabad on October 19 to oppose the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
YSR CP moved a petition in the High court seeking court permission for the meeting. Responding to the petition, the court directed the West Zone DCP to submit his opinion before October 12.
The West Zone DCP in his three -page letter to YSR CP rejected the permission for the meeting citing law and order problems.
Taking serious exception on the police denial to the meeting, YSR CP leaders accused the police of biased attitude.
"It is absolutely against the spirit of democracy. When the meetings of Modi, Telangana Congress, AP NGOs and TJACs were not problematic to the law and order situation, how could our meeting be a threat to it? We will definitely seek the court to get permission," they said.
