Police crack four-month-old gold theft case; one arrested
Mahabubnagar (Telangana): Police on Wednesday arrested one person and recovered 2kg of gold ornaments which were stolen from a private bus nearly four months ago.
The incident took place in late June when the bus, bound for Hyderabad from Coimbatore, stopped at a roadside eatery, they said.
Four unidentified persons entered the bus and stole bags containing 6 kg of gold ornaments. The bags belonged to two passengers who were travelling together, police said. Police launched a probe and zeroed in one of the accused, Mahabub Khan, who was arrested from Pullur village near here.
Two kg of gold was recovered from Khan, an auto driver by profession, which was his share of the loot, they said.
Khan and his three accomplices hail from Madhya Pradesh and a search has been launched for the absconding accused, police said, adding the 33-year-old has confessed to his role in the crime.
