Police Cordon at Dattatreya's Residence

Hyderabad: The city police have cordoned off the area around Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya's residence in Ram Nagar since Monday.

In view of Hyderabad Central University student Rohit Vemula's suicide on Sunday, the Telangana Jagruti and other student organisations have called for a seige of the Minister's house. Students and members of the Telangana Jagruti gathered in huge numbers at the residence in Ram Nagar area. They raised slogans against Dattatreya and Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and demanded their resignations. Riot police rounded up several of the students and shifted them to police station.
