Vijayawada: The Vijayawada police are still clueless about the mysterious death of engineering student G Vamsi Teja. On November 2, Vamsi Teja went missing after he appeared for an exam at his college. Later, he was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Chirala beach in Guntur. Although, the CCTV footage showed that Vamsi had boarded a Vizag bus after he wrote the exam, the police are still clueless as to why he had to go to Chirala.

The police began their investigation with the SIM card they found from Vamsi's body in the beach. They are securing details from the call data as to know whom he had called the day later.

It is learnt that the youngster was in debts after he had lost money in cricket betting. Vamsi owed around Rs 20,000 to cricket bookies. However, his friends and relatives said that it might not be the reason for him to take the extreme step.

The police are probing whether he had borrowed money from private money lenders or whether he had faced any difficulty in his studies which drove him to commit suicide. In connection with the case, the police arrested suspects and cricket bookies in the city and are investigating the case.
