Police apprehend kidnappers, rescue Sahasra within 24 hours

Kanigiri/Vijayawada: The police on Thursday solved the kidnap case of Sahasra, a 7-year-old from Prakasham district within 24 hours of the incident.

The kidnap case, that caused ripples in the city here, ended with the police apprehending the kidnappers in Vijayawada and bringing back the girl in safe condition. The kidnappers are said to be her father's younger brother, Rajesh Reddy and his accomplice. Based on telephone calls they made to Sahasra's parents, the police traced them to Vijayawada and nabbed them, Kanigiri CI Sudhakar Rao said.

Sahasra, a 7-year-old on Thursday was kidnapped while she was playing outside her grandmother's house, by two miscreants wearing helmets and riding a black Pulser motorbike. Sahasra was at her grandmother's as both her parents are employed as teachers.

The police had quickly sprung into action as soon as they received news about the incident. They were able to apprehend the kidnappers in Vijayawada and rescue Sahasra from them. Details are awaited.
