Polavaram design must be changed : KCR
Telangana’s CM designate KCR on Tuesday stirred a hornet’s nest when he claimed that he had credible information that some villages in Bhadrachalam division of Khammam district would be given to the Andrha Pradesh and added that his party and the government would oppose it tooth and nail.
“We have credible information that an ordinance is being promulgated by the centre to merge some villages in Khammam,” KCR said.
He clarified that Article 3 of the Constitution of India stipulates that changing the borders of any state must be done only after consulting the respective state governments.
“There need not be any hurry on the issue. Changing of state borders without consulting the state is undemocratic. We are not against Polavaram project. But, its design must be changed,” said the TRS president.
He clarified that it is not proper to merge seven mandals in Bhadrachalam into Andhra Pradesh as Bhadrachalam is part of the Telangana.
