Pochampally Ikat Brand Must Be Popularised Internationally: Governor
Bhoodan Pochampally: Handloom weavers must work hard to take the Pochampally Ikat brand to the international market, Governor ESL Narasimhan said.
The Governor, accompanied by his wife Vimala Narasimhan, visited a handloom park in Kanumukkala of Yadadri Bhongiri district on Wednesday. He was briefed on the working conditions of the weavers, the quality of the silk cloth produced and the fair price earned by weavers.
Later, Governor Narasimhan held a review meeting at the tourism park with workers, master weavers and bankers. He sought to know if the weavers are able to avail government schemes and the issues confronted by the weavers. He assured that their representations will brought to the notice of the state government for immediate redressal. The Governor was accompanied by MLA Prabhakar Reddy and district collector Anita Ramachandran and other officials.
