PM Modi lands in Vizag, reviews cyclone damage

Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday afternoon landed in Visakhapatnam to review the situation of cyclone-hit areas with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu and top officials.

PM Modi, who arrived here this afternoon, inspected Vizag airport and later headed towards collectorate and will have a meeting which will be briefed by Chandrababu on the devastation caused by the Cyclone Hudhud which claimed 22 lives.

Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, central government minister Ashok Gajapati Raju received him at the airport.
Modi will visit the beach and some other parts of the city, which bore the brunt of the cyclone. He will then undertake an aerial survey of the other affected areas.

CM Chandrababu Naidu had already written to Modi to declare it a national calamity and provide Rs.2,000 crore as interim relief.
