Playboy Magazine Features First Muslim Woman In A Hijab

Playboy’s October ‘Renegade’ edition features hijab clad American Journalist
Los Angeles: Noor Tagouri a 22-year-old American journalist of Libyan descent has become the first Muslim hijab clad women to appear in the pages of Playboy magazine, a magazine that for more than half a decade published nude pictures of women.
The pictures of Noor however are not in the nude as Playboy magazine did away with nudity earlier this year in order to appeal to a wider audience. She is seen to sport a black leather jacket, jeans, sneakers and a hijab in the October ‘Renegades’ edition - that focuses on men and women ‘who risked it all -- even their lives -- to do what they love.’
The journalist who works as a reporter for Newsy, a video news network describes herself as a ‘badass’ activist who is passionate about not letting her stories get misrepresented in the media.
Tagouri, who has a social media following of more than 100,000, first gained attention after launching the viral #LetNoorShine campaign in 2012. She attributes her career success to her struggles as a Muslim woman growing up in the United States.
While some see her appearance in the Playboy magazine as a breakthrough, other criticize her for associating with a magazine that for decades sought to objectify, sexualize and commoditize women.
