PG Medico Sandhya Husband Attempts Suicide; Professor Lakshmi Goes Underground
Guntur: Frustrated over the death of Dr Sandhya Rani, her husband attempted to commit suicide on Thursday, while woman professor Lakshmi is absconding. After the attempt to commit suicide by Dr Rani's husband, medical students further intensified their agitation demanding punishment of the professor, due to whose harassing Sandhya committed suicide on Monday.
Sandhya Rani was a second year PG medical student died after she herself injected poison. Her diary revealed that she was harassed by her one of her professors Dr. Lakshmi.
M Saritha, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Guntur West, said a case has been booked under Section 306 IPC against the professor.
Dr B Sandhya Rani, 27 years, a PG student of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, from Nalgonda district secured a seat in the Department of Gynaecology in 2014. Since then, she had been living in a house at Kannavari Thota.
A senior police officer said that Dr Sandhya Rani had mentioned the name of the senior professor several times in her diary. Dr Rani also wrote a letter to her husband stating that she was unable withstand the harassment meted out to her. Rani's letter clearly indicated the depression state she was undergoing, observes the police official.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said action has been initiated against the professor and all efforts are being made to nab her.
