Peruvian Airliner Catches Fire While Landing, All Passengers Safe

A Peruvian Airlines Boeing jet caught fire after it swerved on the runway at the airport near Jauja in Central Peru. Fortunately, all the 141 persons on board, escaped unscathed.

The Boeing swerved off for reasons not known at about 4.30 pm on Tursday. The wing scraped the runway and this caused the fire. Television images showed a large cloud of black smoke streaming from an airliner in flames.The authorities have evacuated all those on board to safety. An enquiry is being ordered into the reasons for the mishap.
