People cause a stampede to collect oil from overturned tanker

Unmindful of the danger of a major fire mishap and a blast, hundreds of people flocked to an accident spot near Kovur town of Nellore district to collect the petrol that spilled onto the road.The police had a tough time driving the people away and averting a possible mishap.

A tanker carrying petrol for Chowdary Petrol Bunk on Kovur national High Way overturned and petrol spilled on to the road. Seeing this, people rushed to collect the spilling petrol in buckets and containers. There was a melee due to the crowd rush. Even a single spark or a cigarette could have caused a massive accident leading to many deaths. Yet, people did not care for their lives and were busy collecting fuel. Due to this there was a massive traffic jam.
The police had to struggle for hours to clear the crowds and ensure free traffic flow.
