Sand costlier, Rice cheaper in AP
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was recently informed by some of his party MLAs that sand was more expensive than rice in the state.
The MLAs informed the CM about the drastic price disparity between rice and sand: while the rice available at subsidized price Rs 1 per Kg in fair price shops, the price of sand is Rs 2.50 per Kg.
The price disparity has forced the buyers to purchase sand in kilos instead of truckloads.
Sand prices have skyrocketed due to the sand policy currently implemented by the CM.
Meanwhile the CM has assured the MLAs that he will look into the matter and assured a policy review.
