Pawan Kalyan urges AP govt not to acquire fertile land in Guntur - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan today requested Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu not to acquire the fertile multi-cropped land of some villages in Guntur district for construction of the state's capital city Amaravati.

I urge Hon'ble CM of AP ..Sri CBN garu not to Use 'Land acquisition act' on Fertile Multi-cropped lands of Undavalli, Penumaka, Bethapudi and other river front villages, the actor-turned-politician said in a tweet. He also said that regardless of the country and rulers, the price of development of one area or one group always results in environmental pollution, displacement and disgruntlement of another group. But development with least possible damage lies in the wisdom of the rulers, he said.

Kalyan had earlier requested the TDP government not to use the Land Acquisition Act for acquiring land from unwilling farmers for construction of the state's new capital city. Earlier, during his visit to the capital region in Guntur in March this year, the actor had threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike if the government tries to forcibly acquire land from farmers for setting up the new state capital Amaravati. The government had earlier said it has got consent letters from farmers for taking over 32,000 acres required for construction of new capital on 'land pooling' basis. Kalyan, who was a staunch supporter of the Telugu Desam-BJP combine during the last elections, had recently criticised MPs from the state for not doing enough to get special status for the state. His remarks had earned wrath of some TDP MPs.
