Pattiseema will put Polavaram into cold storage
YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to expedite the Polavaram project to allay fears on its completion.
He and the party MPs met the Union Finance Minister on Tuesday.
Later, YS Jagan told media persons that Jatley gave a patient hearing and assured to look into the issues raised by him. YS Jagan said the people of the state fear that Polavaram would be put in cold storage with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu taking up Pattiseema, as the two projects run parallel in aims and objectives of diverting Godavari flood waters to Krishna delta and to Rayalaseema.
“We have also brought to the notice of the Union Finance Minister about the clauses 7(e) and 7(f) of Godavari River Waters Dispute Tribunal which says that once the Polavaram project gets the nod of CWC, upper riparian states of Maharashtra and Karnataka can stop 35 TMC water to our state and can also stake claim in the Krishna waters.
Referring to the Telangana government’s decision to levy entry tax on the commercial vehicles coming from Andhra Pradesh, he said he would request Telangana Chief Minister KCR to rethink on the issue and withdraw the proposal. He expressed the hope that the two Telugu states would have friendly relations.
