Passport issued to baby born out of surrogacy

Hyderabad, The passport authorities in Hyderabad have issued passport to a baby born through surrogacy.

This is the first incident of a baby born out of surrogacy getting a passport.

As per reports, Hyderabad passport officials have issued a passport to an Non Resident Indian (NRI) couple’s surrogate baby, after getting the baby’s DNA report from the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB).

Till now, there were no guidelines on issuing passports to  babies born out of surrogacy. These was a mandate for a biological declaration by the father of the baby to get a passport. 

Earlier, passport was denied to two such children born out of surrogacy.
