Pari’war’ in Samajwadi Party: Akhilesh Set to Announce 176 Names Defying Papa Mulayam
Pari'war' has broken out again in Uttar Pradesh's ruling party Samajwadi Party. A day after SP patriarch Mulayam Singh announced candidates for 325 of the 403 MLA seats, his son and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav is getting ready to announce his own list of 167 candidates.
This could set off a war between father and son, who have not been on best of the terms over the role of Mulayam's brother Shivpal Singh and former MP Amar Singh.
From the morning on Thursday, heavy crowds were witnessed at the residences of Akhilesh, Mulayam and Shivpal. Akhilesh, who was sulking after his father snubbed him and announced 325 candidates, met with his supporters in the evening. Several of MLAs, who attended the meeting, were those who were denied tickets by Mulayam. Quite significantly, the list came at a time when Akhilesh was busy touring Bundelkhand.
Last night, Akhilesh sacked to Shivpal Singh loyalists from the post. He also expressed his displeasure at the list omitting the names of his supporters, who, he said, were sure to win.
