Parcel From Dubai With Rs15 Lakh Worth Gold Seized At Chennai Post Office 

Chennai: Gold smugglers, it seems, won't stop at any point to carry out their business. As security is getting tighter by the day, instead of smuggling by humans, they now tried their luck by sending a parcel through post so that it would pass the security checks at airports.

In fact the parcel, declared as a jug by the sender in Dubai, passed through the Dubai airport on Thursday. The parcel also passed the security check at Chennai airport and was delivered at Meenambakkam's Pannattu post office. As the parcel containing a jug was unusually heavy, the postal officials smelled something fishy and informed the customs officials who opened it and found 1.5kg of gold bars inside. The value of the gold bars is estimated to be Rs15 lakh.

When the police inquired about the receiver as per the address, they found no one by the name at the address. Further investigation is going on, officials said.
