Pakistani Ad Slammed By Netizens For Being Misogynist
A leaked Pakistani advertisement starring Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has received flaks from tweeple for justifying 'domestic violence' as a sign of masculinity. The 1-minute 17-second washing machine advertisement posted on a YouTube channel 'Salman Khan' has gone viral and has only raised hackles of the viewers.
The Kenwood company which sensed things going wrong, issued a disclaimer and tendered apology for its misogynist ad, adding , that final clearance was not approved but the clip found its way and got leaked. “We admit that our judgement was flawed as we failed to fully and deeply consider the ad in the light of the view that many people have pointed out."
The ad shows actor Nawazuddin who is amidst of his male companions rattles about "dhulayi" (beating) of his wife after she shows "attitude". “Bhai se attitude bardaasht nahi hoti, mujhe gussa aa gaya aur mera haath utt gaya, dhulayi ki,” he swanks.
The ad concludes showing one of his friends pretending that Nawazuddin's wife is standing at his back. And the latter heaves a sigh of relief realizing that his friends tried to pull his leg. "Aisi mazak mat kiya kar yaar, meri saans rukh gayi," actor than warns his friends.
