Owaisi Demands FIR Against Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Syria Remark - Sakshi Post

In an attempt to clarify his controversial statement on India turning into Syria if the Ram temple issue is not resolved, Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar today said he cannot "even dream" of issuing a threat to any community.

"Main sapne mein bhi nahi soch sakta ki main kisi ko dhamki dun. Jo humne kaha ki humare desh mein aisi hinsa nahi honi chaiye jaise Middle East mein, isse humein darr lagta hai (I cannot even in my dream issue such a threat. What I said was there should be no violence in the country, like the Middle East. I am scared of that)," Ravi Shankar told news agency ANI in UP's Bareilly.

The 61-year-old spiritual guru also claimed his statement was twisted by the media. However, on Monday, he said, "If Ram Mandir issue is not solved, we will have a Syria in India."

The Art of Living founder also said that media introduced "Syria twist in the statement". "My statement was wrongly interpreted. I am very confident that Ayodhya dispute will be resolved," he said.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad MP and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded a First Information Report (FIR) against Ravi Shankar, and demanded that the Supreme Court should not hear the sensitive Ayodhya dispute case till the Lok Sabha elections are held in 2019.

"An FIR should be registered against Sri Sri for making a Syria-like comparison," Owaisi told Aaj Tak. "I also urge the Supreme Court to not hear the Ayodhya matter till 2019 as people seem to be more interested in doing politics over it," he said.

Syrian is embroiled in a civil war where multiple forces are fighting each other for control of the country. Rebel forces are fighting to unseat President Bashar al-Assad's government, which has the support of Russia and Iran while the other side is getting help from the US and Saudi Arabia.

In the last two weeks, the Syrian crisis has made major headlines across the world after more than 600 people have so far been killed in Eastern Ghouta.

In the same interview, Ravi Shankar said, "Muslims should give up their claim on Ayodhya as a goodwill gesture... Ayodhya is not place of faith for Muslims."

Reacting to Ravi Shankar's statement, Owaisi said, "FIR should be registered against SRI SRI for making Syria comparison. Speaking to Aaj Tak, Owasi said that he would rather urge the Supreme Cout, not to hear the matter till 2019, as people seem more interested in doing politics." PTI
