OU To Honor KCR With Doctorate?
Hyderabad: Osmania University is leaving no stone unturned to make its centenary celebrations to be held from April 26 to 28 a grand affair.
It's learnt that OU is considering to confer honorary doctorate on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasehkar Rao. Interestingly, KCR is an alumnus of OU.
Few days ago, Telangana Vidyarthi Parishad (TGVP) has met OU vice-chancellor S. Ramachandram and submitted a representation urging him to honor KCR during its fete.
Meanwhile, Telangana Jagruthi president and Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha's name also popped up for the honor. The Jagruthi members said that she too played a prominent role in fight for the separate statehood as they conducted various awareness programmes which helped the movement to gain momentum.

On the other hand, OU JAC leaders demanded that Srikantha Chary who immolated self for separate statehood should be honored with a doctorate.
A senior official said that, “Even persons who have been nominated may not be aware their names were proposed. For instance, former chief minister of Karnataka Dharam Singh and former Lok Sabha speaker Shivraj Patil were proposed by local organisations."
