OU Engineering Students Protest Against Detention

Hyderabad: Osmania University witnessed unrest on Wednesday as around 1,000 engineering students pursing courses at various colleges affiliated by the university staged protest against their detention. The student held protest after 1,500 students were detained for failing to clear the exam with required number of credits.
SFI vice-president T. Laxman said that over 1,000 first year engineering students were detained. The student adds that they want advanced supplementary examinations to be conducted and relax the detention rules.
"We have taken the matter to the university officials who have informed us to address the issue on Monday. Students can only sit for the next semester class once they conduct advanced supplementary examination," said Laxman.

Meanwhile, university registrar Gopal Reddy said, "The decision will be taken by the principal of the engineering college and the controller of examination."
