Osmania University Centenary Celebrations Held In London

London: Centenary celebrations of Osmania University (OU) titled "Osmania Shatabdi Festival" were held here on Monday.

The event began with cultural programmes performed by alumni of OU. The alumni arrived from several parts of Europe and the UK to participate in the celebrations. They included former OU students from professional fields, education, politics and business.

Speakers at the event called for enhanced cooperation between universities in the UK and OU. Student exchange programmes, cultural events and joint research programmes can be part of the increased collaboration between the universities, the speakers said. They also stressed on skill development in the education system in both the countries.

Prominent speakers on the occasion were Osmania University vice chancellor S. Ramachandram, M Ramachandra Rao (MLC), Congress leader Sravan Dasoju and Sakshi media group Editorial Director Ramachandra Murthy.

Osmania's former students were honored with the centenary ceremonies at the event. Shankar Devaraseeti, Shivaraj Kiran Pasunuri, Geeta and Kumar Uppala were among the several former students honoured on the occasion.
