Hyderabad: Osmania Hospital saved a 23 year old M.Tech student from a rare and serious blood disorder which resulted in liver disease. The doctors operated on him for 20 hours and successfully transplanted his liver.

Mahesh, a resident of Mahbub Nagar suffering from a blood clot disease since his birth. Despite being poor, parents took the pain of educating their son and simultaneously managed to provide the treatment to some extent.

But unfortunately, the disease shown its effect on the liver. They lost hopes on their son when they came to know about the amount of Rs30 lakh for the treatment at private hospitals.

Mahesh and his parents visited the Osmania doctors when they got to know about the successful liver transplantation a few months back. He underwent some medical tests before the treatment started.

They looked for the donors, and fortunately for them a brain dead person's liver had taken from NIMS hospital on March 5.

On the same day, he was operated by 15 doctors under the Osmania Gastroenterology HoD Dr. Madhusudan for 20 hours and made the transplantation successful. He was under observation for four days with utmost attention.

Telangana Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy visited the hospital on Wednesday and enquired about the condition of the patient. The minister is taking steps to pay the entire bill of Rs10 lakh from the government.
