Anantapur: Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh staged a dharna in the town, on Tuesday, demanding setting up of the state High Court in Rayalaseema region.

Political parties including YSRCP, CPI, CPM and Congress expressed solidarity with the dharna being staged by noted advocate Raja Reddy demanding HC in Rayalaseema. A rally was taken out in the town as part of the protests and later the effigy of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was burnt at Sapthagiri Circle.

In the evening, police foiled the protest camp near the RDO office. At 4:30 pm, police officials forcibly shifted Raja Reddy and other protestors to Anantapur Government hospital.
