One killed in Hyderabad building collapse

Hyderabad: One person was killed when an old building collapsed due to heavy rains in Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad. The incident occurred Tuesday evening in Shivajinagar area. The deceased was identified as Gopal, who ran an electronics shop in the building.

Rescue workers of Greater Hyderabad Municipal corporation (GHMC) with the help of police were clearing the rubble. Deputy Mayor Baba Fasihuddin visited the scene and spoke to GHMC officials. Hyderabad and outskirts have been receiving heavy rains in spells since early Tuesday. The downpour in the evening inundated roads, causing severe inconvenience to motorists.

There was long traffic jam in many parts of the city as people returning home from offices and work places were caught in the rains.
A similar situation prevailed in the city and outskirts early Tuesday.
