OMC scam: Srilakshmi's bail plea dismissed
The Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed the bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, an accused in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) scam involving former Karnataka Tourism Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu dismissed the bail application moved by Srilakshmi and in his orders objected that the petitioner's involvement in the scam is very much evident and she is not entitled for bail.
The 1988-batch officer, who was Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare when she was arrested on November 28 last year by the CBI, allegedly abused her earlier official position as the Secretary (Industries and Commerce) to favour OMC in allotment of mining leases in nexus with Reddy and others.
The central probe agency in its supplementary chargesheet filed in OMC case on March 30 had named Srilakshmi as a co-conspirator. She is in judicial custody in Chanchalguda Prison.
Earlier, on CBI's plea, Andhra Pradesh High Court on January 2 cancelled the bail of Srilakshmi after the special CBI court here had granted a conditional bail to her on December 2.
The High Court then had reversed the lower court's order and directed Srilakshmi to surrender before the CBI special court before January 6 and accordingly, she surrendered before the court which had sent her to judicial custody.
