Olympian PV Sindhu Arrives In Hyderabad To A Grand State Reception

Hyderabad: Telangana government accorded a grand state reception to Rio Olympics 2016 silver medalist shuttler PV Sindhu at Gacchibowli stadium here on Monday.

Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, MLCs Narender Reddy, Shambipur Raju and a host of officials and dignitaries received Sindhu at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport this morning.

From Andhra Pradesh government, Deputy CM Nimmakayala China Rajappa, Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao and MP Kesineni Nani were among those who received Sindhu at the airport.

Sindhu, the first Indian to clinch a silver in badminton at the Olympics in its 120-year history, was showered with flowers all her way from the airport to Gacchibowli stadium. Sindhu was accompanied by her coach Pullela Gopichand in an open top vehicle and ministers and other dignitaries followed the vehicle.

Waving the national flag, school children and general public welcomed the Olympian throughout the rally via Rajendranagar, Aramghar and Attapur to Gacchibowli stadium.

A jubilant Sindhu waved back to all the enthusiasts and children raising the silver medal she won at the just concluded Rio Olympics 2016.
