Old Buildings To Be Demolished Before Another Heavy Downpour 

Dilapidated buildings will be razed in view of the heavy rains predicted by IMD - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: After heavy downpour lashed city on Wednesday morning leaving seven people dead in different incidents of wall and building collapse, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said that all the dilapidated buildings will be razed in view of the heavy rains predicted by Indian Meteorological Department.

“In view of the cyclonic circulation over central Bay of Bengal ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall’ warning has been issued for the next two days,” said Y K Reddy, (director incharge), IMD Hyderabad.

With a heavy inflow of water from various directions Hussainsagar water levels surged to danger levels on Wednesday and for the first time since 2008 GHMC was forced to open the vent of Hussainsagar to release excess water.

With several areas receiving unusual levels of rainfall cellar of several apartments were completely submerged and drain water gushed out of sewerage lines on main roads.
