Nuzvid IIIT Suspends 54 Students For Ragging Juniors

Nuzid (Krishna): A total of 54 senior students were suspended for ragging junior students on the prestigious Nuzvid IIIT campus in Krishna district.

The disciplinary committee, which was constituted to probe into the incident, submitted a report on Monday and recommended the suspension of students. However, the quantum of the punishment varied from student to student and the final decision will be taken by the vice-chancellor.

On August 29, final year students thrashed 12 junior students on the campus accusing them of spying for the college management. The victims along with their parents brought the incident to the notice of the management and demanded a stern punishment to the senior students. Post the inquiry, the officials have decided on the quantum of punishment to the students.

As many as six students were suspended for a period of one year and would not be allowed into campus during this period. As many as nine students were suspended for one year, but would be allowed to take exams on the campus. Another 24 students have been suspended and will only be allowed to take their final exams. Another 13 students have been suspended for a period of one week.
