Mumbai: The country’s leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel has announced free unlimited 4G data to both existing and new consumers for a period of 90 days in a bid to take on RIL’s Jio 4G. Airtel on Friday unveiled a special 4G data pack that offers free and unlimited data for 90 days.

The new offer is available in New Delhi and will be expanded to other parts of the country in next few days.
Airtel in its latest release said: “While the pack is available for Rs1,495 for existing users; new users can avail this offer via first recharge of Rs1,494. Fair usage policy will be applicable.”
However, industry experts say it’s not totally free, but conditions apply as usual in any corporate offer. The unlimited 4G does not mean true unlimited 4G necessarily. The new 4G data plan comes with a data cap of 30GB. Once the limit is reached, the 4G speed will be reduced to 64Kbps.

Ajai Puri, director, operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said: “At Airtel, we are focused on providing great value to customers. Customers with 4G handsets generally consume large amounts of data and this proposition is specifically aimed at them. With this pack these customers can stay online round the clock without having to worry about exhausting their data limits or going for frequent recharges.”

Earlier, Airtel denied all allegations made by Jio with regard to the release of additional points of interconnections (PoIs) from Airtel to Jio and MNP requests. Airtel categorically is saying it had agreed to release the additional PoIs, which was three times the present number of PoIs, to Jio and ensured there were no capacity constraints from its end.
