Chris Gayle out of IPL 2018?

Bengaluru: Once a sensation in the world T20 cricket and the darling of IPL, Chris Gayle is today finding no takers at the IPL auction being held in Bengaluru. The two-day auction has already seen many ups and downs huge money being shelled out by different franchises. Ben Stokes leads in the auction sale with Rajasthan Royals shelling out Rs 12.5 crores, while Manish Pandey taken for Rs 11 crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On the other hand it is surprising to note that Chris Gayle was not opted by any franchise even for the base price of Rs 2 crores. Gayle had earlier played for Bengaluru and was the most sought after cricketer. With a glorious performances in the precious seasons of IPL, Gayle was thought to be the favourite of franchises and will be sold at a premium rate. But it turned out to be shock that all of them ignored and preferred young players.

It was not just Gayle who were left out in the auction, Joe Root, Murali Vijay, Hashim Amla, Martin Guptill, James Falkner, and Parthiv Patel. All these players might not find place in this year's IPL. These players will get chance to play IPL only if some franchises buy them for less than their base price. So we will have to wait until tomorrow, when the auction ends, to find if these players will figure in the tournament or not.
