Sorry VIPs! No special treatment in Tirumala
President's rule in the state may not have got the approval of many a citizen, but it might just get the thumbs up from Tirupati devotees.
In the wake of inconvenience caused to common devotees by the privileged visits of VIPs, Governor ESL Narasimhan decided to put a stop this practice during President's rule.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) board, working on Governor's orders, on Thursday, decided that there will be no VIP treatment to any devotee and recommendation letters from MLAs and MPs will not be accepted.
It was decided that since the Election Code in place, VIPs should also be treated like ordinary devotees and no special arrangements should be given to them. TTD officials are said to have received orders from Chief Secretary PK Mohanty in this regard.
