No Pension If You Don’t Vote, Bonda Uma Threatens Senior Citizens
Nandyal: TDP leader and Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao has kicked up a controversy after he tried to threaten voters saying pension to senior citizens will be cut if they did not vote for the TDP.
Bonda Uma, who is in Nandyal town as part of the election campaign ahead of the by-election, made these remarks on Wednesday while disbursing pensions to senior citizens along with municipal councillor of Ward No 24 Dileep.
As part of the programme, 'Annadanam' was organised for the pension beneficiaries at the BC Welfare hostel.
"When you people are getting benefited from the welfare schemes that are being implemented by the TDP government. Why will you not vote for the party?" he questioned.
The TDP MLA asked the voters to ensure that the TDP wins the byelection. "If not, you will have to face severe consequences," he warned the voters. Later, the TDP legislator violated Model Code of Conduct by seeking votes from the government staff in the BC welfare hostel.
