No consensus at all-party meet, says Lagadapati
After dillydallying on the Telangana statehood issue for nearly three years, the UPA government held an all-party meeting on December 28 to find a solution to the decades-old problem, but it seems it is again going to be a contentious issue.
Giving a hint on the Congress High Command decision on the Telangana issue, its party MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has said that no ‘ single stand’ had emerged out of the all-party meeting.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday, he predicted that there was no chance for a separate state.
He recalled that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu itself once openly said that his letter to Pranab Mukherjee would not stand for long.
Naidu is confused on the Telangana issue. He sometime says ‘Jai’ (victory), later ‘Nai’ (no) and now ‘sayee’ (OK). What he will say next cannot be guessed by anyone, Lagadapati said.
NTR had founded the Telugu Desam Party to revive the pride of Telugus across the world, but Naidu is now aiming to gain personal and political mileage using the party’s goodwill.
